Stardock Objectdock Plus V2.0 Crack
Ok, so being an old time object dock user, I got the pre-order email to get into the beta. And while $10 - $20 dollars isn't the end of the world,I think it is kinda lame to charge to help you test out and fix your software. Not only do you want us to lay out money to help you fix bugs, but you didn't even give us a feature list of the upcoming ObjectDock Plus 2.0.Am I missing something here or is this just poor marketing. Don't get me wrong. I love object dock plus, but not enough to pay for something that I have no idea what I'm paying for.Stardock, you might want to rethink this.
I have to agree that I'm not real inclined to buy ObjectDock 2. Don't get me wrong, I'm generally a.big. fan of Stardock software - I've been subscribing to Object Desktop for something like 6+ years. What bugs me about ObjectDock is that it's been broken for the last couple years and never been fixed. That is to say that the tray support in ObjectDock hasn't worked pretty much (if I recall) since close to the launch of Vista. And it's not just me - I've seen lots of forum posts with the same complaint. Tray support is a make or break feature for me in a program like this where I want to hide the taskbar. I think they at least fix that before charging for an update.
Just my humble opinion. I think it's great that those of you who have been using Object Dock for years and have gotten your money's worth are willing to pay another $10 for the upgrade.But me. I literally just bought Object Dock a few days ago.

OD+ has been around for eons and the product page makes no mention of how far your future upgrades can go. So if a new customer tried out ObjectDock, pays for + features, and then v2.0 is released many many months later. Then you charge $10 for people who want to upgrade?Yes, there are things like a lifetime license (aka pay-once) and some are marketed like that. But again I reiterate that the product page for OD/OD+ makes no mention as to how far you can upgrade to what version.
The product page for OD/OD+ has not been changed nor updated since last year, when they had the promotional bundle deal that ODNT subscribers renew and get OD+ at a discounted price. I contemplated, looked at OD+, and figure it'd be worth a try.I looked at the post on the other thread with regards to this. I am quite displeased with the fact that Stardock are charging people to participate in the beta. Sure, at some point down the line this charge account for the updates between 2.0 and 3.0. However, for the time being, people are paying to test software, make no mistake about that.

Conventionally, that's not something that people are charged for since they are doing a good deed to the developer, especially with bug reports and notifications of incompatibility issues.There also seems to be a distinct lack of information. What is the feature set of this beta? What are the system requirements? Where is the changelog? What is the refund policy? Information seems to be either fragmented between forums/posts or non-existent. Stardock is eager to take the money, but is rather vague on the details.I appreciate that no one HAS to pay for OD 2.0 Beta.
That being said, it strikes at the heart of the principle that, after so many delays and lack of updates, people have to pay to try to see if bugs/incompatibilities that they have experienced are ironed out. Why can't existing OD+ users have free access to a time-limited 2.0 Beta?
The cost of providing that beta for free would be off-set by harvesting input of people who participate in that beta to make the product work better, leading to higher sales.I also noticed that some people made remarks implying that $10 is a petty amount. I am happy for you guys that you have such deep pockets to shell out impulsively and cut your losses if it doesn't work out.
Not everyone can do that and not everyone should do that. It is fundamentally wrong to charge people to test software (even if there's a perk of getting an upgrade attached to it).
