View QuoteOne big meaty bolt is better than four small easily cross threaded bolts on my SCAR-17The AR-15 'only' has one big nut holding it on. Newer versions eliminate the indexing teeth that the gas tube engage to keep it from loosening. The M-60 GPMG has one lever to attach the barrel. The M249 has one lever to attach the barrel. The M-240 has one lever to attach the barrel. The key is OPERATOR CHECKS.Also known as the 10% rule:The operator has to be 10% smarter than the wrench & equipment to insure it works and is used correctly.

Otherwise ask on XCR forum.Except that the MRP is a safer and more secure design due to its two cross bolts, one of which makes it impossible to lose a barrel (short of a fully catastrophic cross bolt failure) and which result in circumferential fixation of the barrel. The only way you are going to lose a barrel on an XCR is if the barrel bolt fails so I don't see your point about the MRP being safer. Regardless, my original point was that the XCR is not the only design subject to USER ERROR.

It was not a knock on the MRP.
